How you grow
In Michigan, becoming a Journeyman Electrician takes 8,000 hours of on-the-job experience over at least four years as a registered apprentice. We move apprentices up in steps:
- Years 1–2: fundamentals, safety, and working under close supervision
- Year 3: more independence on rough-in, conduit, and service work
- Years 4–5: leading pieces of the job and preparing for the Journeyman exam
We back your schooling through our education reimbursement program and help you keep your hours documented so you're ready to sit for the exam.
